The Fireweed & Bees acrylic painting was wonderful to paint! The wildflowers growing in the foothills of the Alberta mountain range are gorgeous spring summer and fall. One of the most prevalent and striking wildflowers is the fire weed. It can bloom in variations up red pink and mauve and can be found along roadways, higher elevations, near streams, lakes, and waterfalls. Their tall stalks are distinguishable from a distance and the bees and butterflies love them. I have taken dozens of fireweed flower reference pictures during my walks in the foothills and wanted to re-create one of those scenes in a painting.
I used a 10 x 10 stretched canvas prepared with gesso before starting the acrylic painting. My reference picture had dark trees and foliage behind the fire weed and I wanted this captured as a the wonderful background contrast. sunlight was coming through some of the grasses, hitting the grass between the flowers and the dark trees. And the bonus… ?,two buzzing bees happened upon my the little vignette and were kind enough to stay long enough to land in the picture! Perfect subject matter for the Fireweed & Bees painting!
The Floral acrylic painting depicts vibrant fireweed flowers standing tall amidst lush green grass and foliage. The delicate pink blooms of the fireweed are complemented by the vivid greenery surrounding them, giving a sense of life and abundance in nature. There are subtle outlines of fireweed seen in the background. Two bees, full of energy, are buzzing around the flowers, adding a dynamic touch to the serene scene, capturing the essence of nature’s harmony. Are used glossy varnish to seal the painting and installed it in a white 10 x 10 inch floating frame. The contrast is striking.
